Music Ministry

Sacred music is vital to the Mass. Its tradition runs deep throughout the Church and is even greater in value than any other art form in the eyes of the Church; therefore its tradition must be preserved with great care. “Liturgical worship is given a more noble form when the divine offices are celebrated solemnly in song with the assistance of sacred ministers and the active participation of the people.” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, No. 113) We cannot forget that song is praying twice, as the old adage says. All our music ministers know that their duty is to lead the congregation in song and to lift the faithful’s hearts and minds to God through their gift.

We are always looking for new musicians – be it singers in the choirs, as a cantor, or as an organist and another instrumentalist. If you’re interested, contact Amelia Gamble, the Director of Music, at or through the Parish Office number 610-433-6102, x31 for more information.

Cantors: Our cantors are those who lead the congregation in song at the Masses. They range from high school age and up. If you think that you would like to be a cantor, please contact Amelia Gamble, Director of Music, at or at 610-433-6102, x31.

Choirs: We have a choir for every age group at the parish. We are fortunate to have a large group of dedicated singers to participate in the Mass in this special way. Our Adult Choir is for parishioners 18 years old and up and our Teen Choir is for youth 6th grade to high school. If you have any questions about our choirs at St. Francis Parish, please contact Amelia Gamble, Director of Music, at or at 610-433-6102, x31.  If you are interested, please click on the name of the choir below for which you are interested, download and print out the sign-up, and return it to the Parish Office completed to Amelia Gamble’s attention. She will be in contact with you shortly after to get you started.

Wind Ensemble: Our newest addition to our parish's music ministry, called "Spirit Wind," is for high school and adult instrumentalists who would like to share their talent with the parish by adding to Mass. All the instruments accompany the organ, which will always hold pride of place in the Sacred Liturgy. However, the extra winds have quickly become a favorite addition to the LIturgy. It is a non-stress, low keey schedule, including usually on rehearsal before the Mass at which they ar eplaying, plus one 10:30am MAss a month, not imncluding special celebrations and 2 concerts throughout each season. Please contact Amelia Gamble, Director of Music, at or at 610-433-6102, x31if you're interested in adding to our merry band of musicians.
