Order of Christian Initiation for Adults

Thank you for your interest in the  of Order Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), offered every September through the Easter Season at St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

OCIA is the process for welcoming new members, adults 18 years or older, into the Catholic Church. It is for those not yet baptized, baptized in another Christian church & interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, or those baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation. We also welcome participation of those who simply want to rekindle the flames of faith in their own lives.

OCIA is the direct result of Vatican II, which called for a revival of the Adult Catechumenate. This goes back to the early traditions of the Catholic Church and models the Apostles’ good example of discipleship as they welcomed newcomers into the community of faith.

Four out of five individuals who investigate the Catholic community do so because friends, relatives, or neighbors extend a personal invitation. Spread the good news by inviting someone!

There is a team of people to greet and walk with you in this journey. If you have any questions or know someone who wants to become Catholic, please have them call the Parish Office at 610-433-6102, or they can contact Deacon Robert Young directly at ryoung@stfrancisallentown.org
